Young Leaders are 14-18 year olds who work in partnership with the adult leadership team of the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections to deliver the programme. They are provided with regular training and support from the district including Modules and Missions to become a very capable Young Leader. The combination of section volunteering and training can count towards sections of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Modules are the training side of the Young Leader scheme and are delivered in a fun and interactive style approximately once a month with a residential training camp once a year.
There are 12 modules to complete to complete the training part of a Young Leader and 4 missions to complete in this time to earn your belt buckle. Module A is compulsory to complete within 3 months of starting which explains safeguarding.
Module A: Prepare for take-off!
Module B: Taking the lead!
Module C: That’s the way to do it!
Module D: Kids behaving badly!
Module E: Game on!
Module F: Making Scouting accessible
Module G: Programme plans
Module H: Programme plans plus
Module I: What did they say?
Module J: Awards and badges

There are 4 missions to complete to become a fully trained Young Leader. They allow you to put your training from the modules into practice developing your skill set and are recorded to help you sign off sections for awards such as Duke of Edinburgh where you need to show progression.
The mission forms can be found below and returned to the District Explorer Scout Administrators to be validated at their YL training or via firstname.lastname@example.orgemail@example.com
To register Young Leaders please email firstname.lastname@example.orgemail@example.com so they are kept up to date with training and support.
