DSC_0417Scouts are boys and girls aged between 10.5 and 14, who make up the third section of the Scouting family, between Cubs and Explorers.

Scouts have the opportunity to try many different activities like swimming, exploring, hiking, archery and climbing. Camping and going away on trips form an important part of the Scout experience. Recent events in the District included a District Scout Camp for 150 people where they took part in a cooking competition and activities ranging from climbing to a really muddy assault course. This year will see a group of scouts from across the district attending an international jamboree in Windsor Great Park with over 7000 young people.

With so many various outdoor adventures to be involved in and badges to achieve as diverse as horse riding, air activities, astronomy and martial arts, there will be something to appeal to any youngster of Scout age!

The excellent provision of Scout troops in the District, along with the opportunity to take part in so many activities also allows scouts from different troops to meet and make new friends. In the Scout section your child will have the opportunity to grow, develop and learn in a fun and safe environment with qualified, experienced and security checked adult leaders ensuring the Scouts’ wellbeing.

Most Scout troops meet on a weeknight between 7.00 – 9pm although there are some troops that meet a little earlier or later than that.

We are always happy to welcome new volunteers and we support flexible volunteering; so regardless of how much or little time you can spare and irrespective of any prior experience or skills, if you have the enthusiasm and desire to provide life-long memories and excitement to 10.5-14 year olds then we’d love to hear from you. You will most certainly be warmly welcomed into the Scout family!
