IMG_4972Cub Scouts are girls and boys aged between 8 and 10.5, who make up the second section of the Scouting family, between Beavers and Scouts.

Cubs have the opportunity to try many different activities like swimming, exploring, hiking, archery and climbing. Camping and going away on trips form an important part of the Cub experience. Recent events in this District include a District Cub Camp for 250 people, a badge day to help the Cubs achieve one of over 50 badges available and a UK wide pirate themed week-long camp at UK Scout Headquarters (Gilwell Park near London) for 2,000 Cubs!

With so many various outdoor adventures to be involved in and badges to achieve as diverse as horse riding, air activities, astronomy and martial arts, there will be something to appeal to any youngster of Cub age!

The excellent provision of Cub Packs in the District, along with the opportunity to take part in so many activities also allows Cubs from different Packs to meet and make new friends. In the Cub section your child will have the opportunity to grow, develop and learn in a fun and safe environment with qualified, experienced and security checked adult leaders ensuring the Cubs’ wellbeing.

Most Cub Packs meet on a weeknight between 6.30 – 8pm although there are some Packs that meet a little earlier or later than that.

We are always happy to welcome new volunteers and we support flexible volunteering; so regardless of how much or little time you can spare and irrespective of any prior experience or skills, if you have the enthusiasm and desire to provide life-long memories and excitement to 8-10.5 year olds then we’d love to hear from you. You will most certainly be warmly welcomed into the Scout family!

Today there are over 150,000 Cub Scouts across the UK and in 2016 we will celebrate one hundred years of Cub Scouting. There will be local and national celebrations up and down the country for Cubs and leaders to get involved in so now is an excellent time to join the adventure!
